The Task

Build brand awareness for surf-based women’s swimwear line Calavera.

What We Did

Helped the company find its brand voice and hone its value proposition. Began by creating a VIP influencer-seeding program targeting loyal female surf enthusiasts who appreciate Calavera’s performance. Focused initial media outreach on water sport and surf-oriented press to establish credibility in this core audience. Established third-party brand alignments with Surfrider Foundation, the New York Surf Film Festival, the Rockaway Beach Surf Club and non-profit Keep-A-Breast. Gained national recognition through coverage in ELLE, Fitness, Entrepreneur, Shape, Self, Financial Times, Salt Gypsy, The Inertia, Girl on a Board, NYC Urchin, Coastal Life, The Swim Journal and more.

Extended awareness of Calavera into fitness, devising a revenue-generating content marketing partnership, “WaveShape,” with celebrity fitness trainer Adam Rosante. Invited national fitness press and key market influencers to sample the WaveShape workout at private previews. Released the co-branded workout video online as a 30-day challenge, with the Calavera Girls and Adam Rosante actively engaged in social media, supported by sponsorship from VitaCoco, KIND Bars, Svelte and Chobani, who drove awareness of the challenge and provided weekly product giveaways.

Generated 7,841 WaveShape views and activated over 3,000 challenge participants resulting in a measurable increase in sales.
